Meizu M1 Note Specs Review: the other "Noteworthy" phablet

Meizu unveils the M1 Note to play catch-up with its compatriot, Xiaomi. The Chinese giant’s latest offering boasts killer specs in a jaw-dropping price tag. The phablet comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p full HD display and LTE connectivity to name a few.

What makes it different?

The Meizu M1 Note only retails at USD 160; in local conversions, that would basically cost Php 7,200. But this phablet is not shy with powerful features that could be in parallel with the existing flagship phones of other premium brands.

Display and Internals

Display and number of cores are basically the features that we consider in buying phones, and the Meizu M1 Note has a lot to brag in these departments. The 5.5-inch display is framed with a full high definition panel which could probably offer good color reproduction.

The screen is patterned with an IGZO (Indium Gallium Zinc oxide) technology from Sharp that scales up to 403 ppi in pixel density. There’s also the GFF laminate that makes the panel less reflective and conserve ample amount of lightning to keep low power requirement.

Likewise, the handset is powered by a 64-bit desktop-class MediaTek MT6752 chipset with 1.7-gigahertz octa-core ARM Cortex A53 CPU, Mali T760 MP2 GPU and 2GB of RAM. You’ll also have the 16GB internal memory across the board.

Camera and Design

This 145-gram phablet touts a Samsung-made 13-megapixel camera sensor on its rear panel that could shoot up to 1080p videos. There’s also a 5-megapixel front shooter with 4-element lens.

Design-wise, the Meizu M1 Note borrows its design philosophy to the iPhone 5c. You can choose from different vibrant colors (green, pink, yellow, blue and white) with polycarbonate unibody chassis that could take up to two SIM cards.

Connectivity and Battery

The Meizu M1 Note is powered by a Sony-made 3100 mAh battery. There is also a good set radio like the 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth. You will have the Flyme 4 skin on top of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

There’s no word yet about the device’s availability but our hopes are up that Meizu could make it available in our local stands soon.

Update (2/10/2015): The Meizu M1 Note will hit the Philippines thru Novo7 Tech with Php 7990 price on March or April time frame.
