Apple has unveiled the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K with the A19 chip, a more capable Siri AI, and support for a four-speaker surround sound setup. The new streaming device also adds built-in microphones for hands-free voice control and new smart home features.
A19 chip delivers faster performance
The new Apple TV 4K uses Apple's A19 chip, which offers up to 50% faster CPU performance and up to twice the GPU performance of the previous generation. Apple also added a dedicated AV1 decoder for more efficient video streaming with lower bandwidth consumption.
The Siri Remote retains its familiar design but now supports Apple's Find My feature with Precision Finding and a sound playback option. These features should make it easier to locate a misplaced remote.
Siri AI adds conversational search
The new Apple TV 4K introduces Siri AI, powered by the next generation of Apple Intelligence. The updated assistant can answer questions about movies and TV shows, recommend related content, and handle follow-up questions without forcing viewers to leave the current playback experience.
Users can also make requests based on personal context through a compatible iPhone with Apple Intelligence. For example, Siri can find a show that someone recommended to them.
Three built-in far-field microphones enable hands-free voice control. Apple also uses echo cancellation to help Siri recognize voice commands even when audio plays through the television.
However, Apple lists Siri AI at launch in selected markets, including the US, Australia, Canada, India, Singapore, and the UK. The Philippines is not on that initial list.
Four-speaker surround sound with HomePod
Apple TV 4K can now support a four-speaker surround sound setup with compatible HomePod speakers. Users can combine two HomePod (2nd generation) units at the front with two HomePod mini 2 speakers at the rear. A setup with four matching HomePod (2nd generation) speakers is also supported.
The speakers automatically adjust audio timing and levels based on their positions in the room. This gives users another option for a home theater setup without a conventional multi-speaker receiver.
Smart home controls and security
The new Apple TV 4K continues to serve as a home hub for compatible smart home accessories. It supports Wi-Fi and Thread connectivity, automations, guest access, and HomeKit Secure Video.
With a compatible smart doorbell, users can receive alerts on their television, view who is at the door, communicate with visitors, and control supported accessories without leaving what they are watching.
Apple Intelligence also adds descriptions of camera activity and summarized notifications in the Home app. Siri AI can control compatible accessories and activate smart home scenes through voice commands, subject to feature availability.
More entertainment features
Beyond streaming, Apple TV 4K supports Apple Arcade games, Apple Fitness+ workouts, FaceTime calls through Continuity Camera, and access to photos on the big screen.
Users can customize how their iCloud photos appear on the television through personalized Memories, slideshows, and Portraits screen savers. A new screen saver shuffle feature can also rotate between categories automatically.
Apple TV 4K price and availability in the Philippines
Apple says the new Apple TV 4K is coming soon to the Philippines, but it has not announced local pricing or an exact release date. Apple lists the Apple TV 4K at PHP 21,990 in the Philippines but is yet to announced availability. The new model will retail for US$299 in the United States, with pre-orders that began on October 13, 2026, and store availability from November 13, 2026.
