The TECNO POVA 8 5G features an 8,000mAh battery, making it one of the largest-capacity batteries available in a mainstream smartphone today. According to TECNO, the battery can last up to two days on a single charge and is engineered to maintain healthy performance for up to 2,000 charging cycles. The device also supports 45W fast charging, with the included charger capable of reaching 50% battery in around 35 minutes.
One of the most distinctive features of the POVA 8 5G is the Alive Matrix Display located on the rear panel. Rather than serving as a decorative lighting element, the dot-matrix LED display functions as a secondary information screen. It can show notifications, incoming calls, messages, charging status, battery level, timers, music playback, and gaming alerts. TECNO says the system supports more than 30 widgets along with customizable animations such as Ripple, Kaleidoscope, and Cross effects.
Artificial intelligence is another major focus of the device. Powered by Google Gemini, the POVA 8 5G offers AI-powered assistance for everyday tasks, productivity, and information searches. TECNO also includes practical AI features such as YouTube video summaries, AI photo enhancements, and noise cancellation during voice calls.
The phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 processor paired with LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB of storage. It also features a 6.76-inch Full HD+ display with a 144Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and gameplay.
To help manage heat during extended gaming sessions, TECNO has equipped the device with Thermal Z0 Cooling Technology. The system uses a 14,689mm² heat dissipation area, which the company says is 2.5 times larger than that of its predecessor.
Photography duties are handled by a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 sensor with 2x optical-grade zoom and support for 2K video recording. The device also offers added durability with an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance, alongside MIL-STD-810H-certified drop protection.
With its combination of an 8000mAh battery, Google Gemini integration, gaming-focused hardware, and eye-catching design with the unique Alive Matrix Display, the TECNO POVA 8 5G offers a different take on the midrange smartphone experience.
