IKEA and Xbox have teamed up to bring the YXSTABY collection to the Philippines, introducing nine pieces of gaming-inspired furniture designed to combine comfort, functionality, and home-friendly aesthetics. The collection officially launched at IKEA’s Pasay showroom on November 4, featuring gaming chairs, TV stands, stools, and accessories inspired by Xbox controllers.
The collaboration aims to address the challenges of integrating gaming setups into Filipino homes, particularly in households where rooms serve multiple purposes. The furniture is designed to accommodate gaming sessions while maintaining a practical and organized living space.
Gaming Furniture Designed for Filipino Homes
The YXSTABY collection draws from the expertise of IKEA and Xbox in furniture design and gaming. According to the companies, the collaboration focuses on creating furniture that gamers can comfortably use at home without compromising the overall aesthetics of their living spaces.
For Filipino households, the collection offers practical solutions for shared spaces. Gaming chairs can be moved between rooms, while TV stands equipped with castors allow users to relocate their gaming setups for multiplayer sessions or other activities.
Philip Dilé, Product Design Developer at IKEA of Sweden, said the collaboration combines Xbox's understanding of players' needs with IKEA's experience in addressing everyday challenges at home.
Xbox Devices Head of Design Carl Ledbetter also highlighted the shared design philosophy of the two companies, which focuses on helping people solve everyday problems.
Xbox Controller-Inspired Designs
The nine-piece collection features several products inspired by Xbox gaming controllers, with playful design elements that reflect the console's iconic controls.
Among the highlights is a gaming lounge chair designed to support both forward-leaning positions during active gameplay and reclining positions for longer gaming sessions.
A rolling side table provides convenient storage for gaming accessories, while a flexible cable storage solution comes with felt inserts to protect items. The storage accessory can also unfold into a laptop stand.
Other pieces include a Gaming D-pad cushion inspired by the controller's directional button, a stainless steel platter based on the D-pad, and a tilting thumbstick stool modeled after an analog stick.
The collection also includes a mirrored display box designed for showcasing gaming controllers and collectibles.
IKEA Philippines Selling Manager Sarah Cox said the collection takes inspiration from Xbox gaming controllers and combines it with IKEA's playful design approach.
IKEA YXSTABY Collection Launch in Pasay
IKEA Philippines launched the YXSTABY collection at its Pasay showroom on November 4 through interactive room setups that demonstrate how gaming furniture can fit into different home environments.
The event brought together design enthusiasts, gaming fans, and coplayers. Activities included a cosplay runway inspired by IKEA's iconic blue and yellow FRAKTA carryall bag, followed by immersive showroom tours.
IKEA Philippines Sales Leader May Castillo noted that the collaboration is particularly relevant to Filipino gamers. She cited the Philippines' ranking as the country with the highest percentage of internet users who play video games on any device, with players averaging 11 hours of gaming per week.
The collection is designed to support families with limited space, where rooms may serve as areas for homework, meal preparation, dining, and work meetings throughout the day.
The IKEA YXSTABY collection is available at the IKEA showroom in Mall of Asia, Pasay. Customers can also shop online through the IKEA Philippines website.
