Insta360 Luna Pro debuts with 1-inch sensor and 8K video

Insta360 has launched the Luna Pro, a compact 3-axis gimbal camera with a 1-inch sensor, 8K video recording, and a detachable 2-inch OLED touchscreen. The camera can shoot 8K video at 30fps, 4K at up to 120fps, and native 4K vertical video at 30fps.

The Luna Pro uses a Leica Summicron lens with a 1-inch 8K sensor. It supports 8K Dolby Vision video, 10-bit I-Log, and built-in timecode for workflows that require more control during post-production. The camera also supports 4K recording at up to 120fps and 4K vertical video at 30fps.

Insta360 also added 4x HighRes Zoom, three Leica color profiles, and six cinematic filters. Deep Track 5.0 handles subject tracking and keeps the selected subject in frame during movement. The camera weighs 215 grams, so it remains relatively compact for a gimbal camera.

The detachable 2-inch OLED touchscreen works as a remote control and can also serve as a microphone for certain shooting setups. The Luna Pro supports built-in microphone recording and wireless file transfers through the Insta360 app, which handles footage editing and other content creation tasks.

Battery life reaches up to four hours under Insta360's specified conditions. Fast charging can bring the battery to around 80% in 23 minutes. The camera also supports accessories such as a Wide-Angle Lens, ND Filter Set, Battery Handle, Neck Mount, and Mini Fill Light.

The Luna Pro starts at US$599.99 for the Standard Bundle. Insta360 began global sales on September 10 through its online store, Amazon, and select retailers. Philippine pricing and availability have yet to be announced.
