Apple has unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max with a new 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture, the A20 Pro chip, longer battery life, and iOS 27. The new Pro models also feature an updated Dynamic Island, a next-generation vapor chamber, and new camera controls.
New 48MP camera adds variable aperture
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max introduce variable aperture to the 48MP Fusion Main camera. The aperture can range from ƒ/1.48 to ƒ/4, which gives users more control over light intake and depth of field.
The camera system also gets new Pro controls for shutter speed, white balance, aperture, and exposure monitoring through a histogram. Apple also upgraded its computational photography system and Photographic Styles.
Users can adjust texture and grain controls, while video recording gains new options such as Cinematic effects after capture and 4K Dolby Vision HDR time-lapse. Audio Mix also gets new algorithms for improved voice separation and music isolation.
A20 Pro chip moves to 2nm
Under the hood, the iPhone 18 Pro models run on the A20 Pro chip built on a 2-nanometer process. The chip uses a six-core CPU, seven-core GPU, and Dual 16-core Neural Engine.
Apple says the GPU can deliver up to 40 percent higher performance than the A19 Pro, while memory bandwidth increases by 50 percent.
The A20 Pro works with a redesigned vapor chamber that has three times more surface area than the previous generation. The new thermal system helps the phones maintain higher performance during demanding workloads such as gaming, video processing, and on-device AI.
Bigger battery gains on both Pro models
Battery life gets a major bump on both models. eSIM-only versions offer up to 36 hours of video playback on the iPhone 18 Pro and up to 45 hours on the iPhone 18 Pro Max. The iPhone 18 Pro can reach 50 percent charge in around 15 minutes through wired charging. Five minutes of wired charging on the iPhone 18 Pro Max can provide around seven hours of video playback.
Smaller Dynamic Island gets new capabilities, N1 chip
The new models feature a smaller Dynamic Island that can display up to three Live Activities at once. Apple pairs the updated hardware with iOS 27, Apple Intelligence, and the new Siri AI. Siri can use personal context and onscreen awareness to handle tasks across supported apps.
Connectivity gets an upgrade through Apple’s N1 wireless networking chip. It supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. The phones also use the new C2 cellular modem system, which adds AI-powered improvements to cellular performance and supports mmWave in the U.S.
iPhone 18 Pro Price, Availability
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max come in black, silver, glacier, and burgundy. Both models offer 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB storage options.
Apple has already listed Philippine pricing for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at Php 94,990 for 256GB, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at Php 99,990 for 256GB. The higher storage configurations cost up to Php 189,990 for the iPhone 18 Pro and Php 194,990 for the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max do not have a confirmed Philippine availability date yet. Apple has listed the local prices, but the Philippine website currently does not provide a local release date.
In the United States, preorders start September 12, with retail availability scheduled for September 18. The Philippines is not part of the initial launch markets announced for those dates. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at USD 1,199 in the U.S., while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at USD 1,299.
