REDMAGIC Astra 2 gaming tablet is now official in global markets. The tablet runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset with an Adreno 840 GPU and RedCore R4 co-processor, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. It also features a 9.06-inch LTPO OLED display with a 185Hz refresh rate, an 8,300mAh battery, and REDMAGIC AquaCore Cooling System 2.0.
The REDMAGIC Astra 2 has a packed specifications. For one, it has a 9.06-inch LTPO OLED display with a 2400 × 1504 resolution, 313ppi pixel density, and up to 185Hz refresh rate. The panel reaches 1,100 nits of typical brightness and 1,600 nits at peak. It also supports a 300Hz global touch sampling rate and up to 2,000Hz instantaneous touch response.
For performance, the tablet uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor with an Adreno 840 GPU. REDMAGIC pairs it with the RedCore R4 gaming co-processor, which handles frame-rate stability and upscaling. RAM options include 12GB and 16GB of LPDDR5X, while storage comes in 256GB and 512GB UFS 4.1 configurations.
Thermal management gets a major focus with the 12-layer REDMAGIC AquaCore Cooling System 2.0. The system combines liquid cooling, Liquid Metal 3.0, and a large vapor chamber to manage heat from the chipset. REDMAGIC also highlights a visible liquid-cooling structure as part of the tablet's design.
The Astra 2 packs an 8,300 mAh battery with 75W wired charging and bypass charging. It also has two USB-C ports, with one USB 3.2 Gen 2 port that supports DisplayPort and another USB 2.0 port. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 handle wireless connectivity.
For cameras, the tablet has a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 9-megapixel front camera. Other features include dual stereo speakers with DTS:X Ultra, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, RGB lighting, and support for external displays at up to 4K 144Hz or 8K 60Hz through a wired connection.
The REDMAGIC Astra 2 runs REDMAGIC OS 11.5 based on Android 16. It measures 207.1 x 134.2 x 6.9mm and weighs 363 grams. The tablet comes in Starfrost Silver and Eclipse Black. REDMAGIC also lists an IP54 rating for the device.
REDMAGIC lists the Astra 2 at USD 749 for the 12GB + 256GB model and USD 849 for the 16GB + 512GB version in select global markets. The company's global launch schedule lists August 26 as the start of open sales.
