realme C67 Review: Upgraded Budget Smartphone

The realme C67 replaces last year's C55 with the phone dubbed to redefine the whole C-series. This makes perfect sense since the company has introduced the new and affordable Note series which falls below the company's current entry-level segment.

realme C67 Review: Upgraded Budget Smartphone

The C67 looks and feels like a refreshed version of the series in terms design, camera, and software. In this release, realme has strategically positioned the phone to have a better camera capability and efficient all-rounder features. Let's dive into this review and see what the realme C67 has to offer. Is this phone for you? How good is it compared to last year's C55? Let's find out.

Pros

  • Vibrant Large Display
  • Mini Capsule 2.0
  • Efficient Chipset
  • Very capable camera with 3x zoom
  • Android 14

Cons

  • Lack of ultrawide camera

realme C67 Price in the Philippines

The realme C67 starts at Php 9,999 for the 8+128GB variant. The model with the larger storage 8GB+256GB is priced at Php 10,999. We have had our initial experience with this device in our unboxing video, and so far we're loving it.

Design

Straight from the box, the realme C67 is a beautiful smartphone. As in my unboxing article, I said that this is the best C-series smartphone has ever looked. Our review unit comes with a Sunny Oasis colorway which registers in a washed out teal hue. The back panel has a brushed texture making the phone a joy to use. If this is not your cup of tea, there's also an equally appealing Black Rock variant.

On top of that, realme has also redesigned the camera module to a vertical orientation, housing its two rear cameras in a familiar fashion. The phone is quite refreshing to hold; it feels like a device that's foreign from its C-series brethren, but looks familiar at the same time. Accompanying the back, we have a high-grade plastic frame that matches the color of the backing. It houses the power button and the volume rocker on the right side; the top has the microphone, while the left side is a home to the SIM card tray. The bottom side is quite busy with the 3.5-mm audio jack, another microphone, the USB-C port, and the speaker grille.

The front panel features the display and the slim side bezels. However, both the top and bottom bezels are quite sizable; the latter being thicker than the former. The front has a hole-punch design provisioned for the selfie camera. I can see the black pixel bleed around the edge of the hole but it's not something that bothers me. The phone is also rated with IP54 certification which means that it has resistance against dust and sprinkles of water.

All in all, the realme C67's design is quite an improvement from previous phones in this series. The slimmer profile (only 7.59mm thick) and substantial weight make this smartphone comfortable to use. I like how the redesigned camera module and thin bezels give the handset a trendy and modern look.

Display

The realme C67 frames a 6.72-inch IPS LCD display with 1080 x 2400p resolution. The screen is treated with 90Hz refresh rate for smoother animations and gameplay on compatible apps. The display also exudes punchy colors and good contrast. Moreover, you can set the colors to your liking using the color temperature and color mode options via the Display settings.

If you prefer having a Dark Theme, you can easily toggle it on or schedule it. Personally, I find the Sunrise-to-Sunset option very convenient. Other essential modes are the Night Light which gives an amber tint to your display for eye protection, as well as custom display size and text wherein you can adjust the font and app sizes according to your preference.

Overall, the display is quite solid. It has good viewing angles and it does not exhibit any unusual greenish tint when viewed on extreme angles. The panel is also large enough for multimedia consumption. I think the display is one of this smartphone's strongest suits.

Performance

The realme C67 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 processor. Our unit comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. On top of that, the phone is also capable of expanding its RAM up to 8GB. The chipset is quite powerful enough to muster most of the streamline tasks we use a smartphone for. Additionally, navigating the whole interface is quite smooth, and pulling of apps is also a breeze.

Light Gaming with this smartphone is quite manageable with popular apps running well with the phone. Titles like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Call of Duty Mobile are very playable with this smartphone. In MLBB, settings top at High Graphics and High Frame Rate. These are also the most optimized settings for the game. Needless to say, there's no Ultra graphics option here.

The phone also manages heat efficiently maintaining the overall stability of the system while having a gaming session or any other intensive tasks. The phone may not be the smoothest in this bracket due to an older chipset; however the Snapdragon 685 still proves to be an efficient SoC especially in handling multiple tasks at the same time.

I'm also delighted that this phone includes stereo speakers, which I tested when streaming content using my favorite apps. The volume is loud enough to fill the room; however, I'd not recommend to crank the volume to the highest level as the sound quality tends to get pitchy. In my opinion, you'll get the best sound quality when it's set two levels lower.

Speaking of streaming, the smartphone is certified with Widevine L1 certification. This allows the realme C67 to stream high-definition content from compatible apps like Netflix, Prime Video, and more.

Antutu Benchmark + Geekbench 6 CPU and GPU Benchmark

We also ran several benchmarks with the smartphone. In our Antutu Benchmark test, the realme C67 tallied a 319,512 score - that's significantly higher than last year's C55 (263,886) with Helio G88 chipset. In our Geekbench 6 CPU test, the phone registers 1570 multi-core and 473 single-core scores. Likewise, in our GPU testing, it garnered 380 score in the OpenCL GPU test.

Camera

The realme C67 features a triple camera setup which is highlighted by the 108MP rear sensor. This is the popular Samsung ISOCELL HM6 sensor that's also featured in several smartphones in this category.

The main camera is coupled by a 2MP sensor with f/2.4 aperture. While the selfie shooter packs an 8MP camera with f/2.05 aperture. At its price, the camera capability of the phone is not too shabby at all. It registers sharp photos with good color accuracy and transparency.

The new ISOCELL sensor is a great addition to the C-series. This gave a considerable performance boost compared to the realme C55. On top of that, the new sensor is capable of capturing 3x-zoomed shots with the In-sensor zoom technology. This mimics a telephoto feature that zooms in on the frame without losing ample amount of detail. With that being said, the realme C67 produces great photos at 3x zoom, preserving most of the details and exhibiting good dynamic range.

One nifty feature I love about the C67 camera is the Street Mode wherein the camera app gives you the ability to shoot photos using several excellent-looking filters. Meanwhile, the C67 can shoot up to 1080p clips at 30 FPS. It offers the Super Steady mode which makes use of the handset's EIS function to keep the recorded clips steady.

Software and Battery

The realme C67 boots with realme UI that's based on Android 14. This is the latest version of Android so expect to have new features which includes an improved user interface, improved battery management, security and data protection. This realme UI version is one of the cleanest Android skins I've used in a while. It's sleek and uncluttered; it's also very easy to navigate.

One notable upgrade, software-wise, is the Mini Capsule 2.0 which borrows inspiration to iPhone's Dynamic Island. Its previous version is only limited to displaying notifications, phone status, and charging updates. With version 2.0, this feature now allows you to interact with it. Apart from displaying music tracks, it enables users to skip tracks by swiping through the Mini Capsule interface.

realme C67 Review

The phone is powered by 5000 mAh battery which is a pretty standard capacity in this segment. It's supported by the SuperVOOC fast charging technology. For light to moderate use, the C67 can easily last a full day of use. Typically this covers social media browsing, streaming videos, casual gaming, checking of emails, and two dozens of shots using the camera. The 33-watt fast charging allows the phone to replenish 50% of battery in just 30 minutes. A full charge would mark around 1 hour and 30 minutes. All in all, the battery is pretty good for a lower mid-tier smartphone.

Should You Buy the realme C67?

The realme C67 is definitely an upgraded version of last year's realme C55. It's a phone that's easy to recommend with its refreshed design, very capable camera, large and vibrant display, multimedia capability, Mini Capsule 2.0, and efficient chipset. The 108MP camera takes most of the spotlight here because it definitely performs. The 3x In-sensor zoom and in-app camera modes like the Street Mode take the realme C67 and the whole C-series into a higher platform. With that being said, if you're looking for a budget phone that performs well in terms of camera capability and offers a balanced mixed of features, look no further.
