Razer Viper V2 Pro Review
Join us in this review and see what this gaming mouse has to offer for prospective users.
Design
The Razer Viper V2 Pro is quite an improvement compared to the model it replaces. The whole interface of the mouse is quite simple with the number of buttons trimmed down to just six. We have the traditional left and right mouse buttons; there's also a clickable wheel, a forward button and back button found on the right side of the mouse, and the DPI button on the underbelly of the device itself.
The DPI button allows you to toggle mouse sensitivity in 5 levels; it also doubles as the power button. The underside is also padded with Polytetrafluoroethylene feet which helps in smoother scrolling and elevating the mouse. Likewise, you won't miss the Focus Pro 30K sensor on the bottom's center. This combination allows you to use the mouse in a variety of surfaces.
We have the white variant for our review unit, and I love how clean it registers to the eyes with only the Razer logo and mouse wheel having black accents. The whole mouse is about 58 grams which weighs the same as a tennis ball. If you're keen on dimension, the mouse is 1.49 inches in height, 2.27 inches in width, and 4.99 inches in depth. The overall build is quite fragile, in my opinion. It doesn't feel as solid as other conventional mice, and I feel like it could break anytime it falls from the table. However, in my long-term use of this mouse, it stood the test of time.
Unboxing, Performance
Unboxing the Razer Viper V2 Pro will give you additional accessories like the much-needed USB dongle, the USB-A to USB-C SpeedFlex cable, and the USB-C to A adapter. The Viper V2 Pro wirelessly connects via Bluetooth 2.4GHz band for smoother experience.
The new Viper V2 Pro is also supported with a slew of nifty features - Smart Tracking, Motion Sync and Asymmetric Cut-Off technologies. The mouse instantly stops tracking when it is lifted off the surface you're working on. Additionally, the Motion Sync feature assigns precise intervals when your PC positions your mouse; this ensures the most accurate positioning of your mouse. Users can also take advantage of the Asymmetric Cut-off with up to 26 granular levels of height adjustment. If you'd ask me, the best-selling point of this mouse is its ability to reach 30,000 dpi max resolution, and 750 inches per second in terms of speed.
When it comes to battery management, the Viper V2 Pro could last up to 80 hours in a single charge. The mouse does not support RGB lighting which is quite a 180-degree turn on what the brand is known for. But if you're a gamer who loves a minimalist aesthetic, this could be your jam. It's fair enough to say that Razer has left the light tricks in the cutting room in favor of a very light device - which works for me by the way. The only light you can seen in the device is the power/dpi indicator near the wheel.
Software
The Razer Viper V2 Pro is supported by a customization software called the Razer Synapse. This allows you to calibrate and adjust settings - like mouse sensitivity, power level, and more - to your liking. As mentioned earlier, the mouse supports five (5) DPI settings which adds flexibility on the mouse's capability.
There's also the Razer Hypershift that allows you to add additional set of functions on top of the existing button assignments. Players of strategy games and massive multiplayer online games can take advantage of the mouse's ability to add custom key bindings. All in all, the software is simple and very easy to use.
The mouse is very effective when I played League of Legends where high click rate and high-DPI movements make a big difference in every game. Shooting games like Valorant can take advantage of the V2 Pro more than any other games due to the mouse's ability to quickly reposition and have a precise multiple swipe detection.
Verdict: Should You Buy The Razer Viper V2 Pro?
The Razer Viper V2 Pro is a remarkable mouse due to it being super lightweight. The mouse also has a very capable sensor that could take your gaming into high bars. Undoubtedly, the design is something to love about this mouse - it's symmetrical and very comfortable to use even in longer periods of time.
If you're very serious about first-person shooting games that needs wide CPI range, low click latency and the one that can work well in various surfaces, then the Razer Viper V2 Pro is for you. The device is also suited for competitive gamers in eSports due to its speed and accuracy.
