Unboxing

The handset is packaged inside a white box with the company's branding in shiny transparent prints. Other details on the box's face include an image of the phone's rear and front view and its storage capacity which is 128GB for our review unit. Opening the box, we are instantly greeted by the actual unit itself. The display is covered by a paper overlay which tells us briefly of what we can expect with the WIKO T10:

  • 128GB Large Storage;
  • 6.5" Edgeless Dewdrop Display;
  • 5000mAh large battery; and
  • 13MP camera.

Next to the unit is a small white box which houses some documentations and the SIM eject tool. The rest of the items can be found at the bottom of the box: the USB-A to USB-C charging cable, which is a tick-in-the-box for the WIKO T10 considering its very affordable price point, and a 10W power adapter.

The transparent film is already pre-installed on the phone's display; and if you're looking for a case and headphones, you cannot find them here.

Design

The WIKO T10's front panel is defined by a waterdrop notch provisioned for the front camera sensor. The handset offers a large screen real estate, at 6.5 inches, and it comes with a slightly curved glass material. It is framed by thin 2.13-mm bezels and a tolerable chin, giving consumers a generous 89.3% screen-to-body ratio.

The phone has a large body that measures 163.94 x 75.79 x 8.97 mm in dimensions; but it's not that heavy and weighs only 192 grams. The frame supporting the phone's chassis looks like an aluminum railing but is really made of plastic material. The ports and buttons are in their usual placements:

  • volume rocker and power button (right);
  • SIM tray with two slots: SIM slot + hybrid slot for SIM and microSD (left); and
  • 3.5mm jack, microphone, charging port, speaker grille (bottom).

On the flip side, the back panel dons a textured finish with geometric 3D patterns. It has a curved back with round edges to facilitate good handling. The panel is made of durable plastic but it tends to attract fingerprints, although they're not that visible on our unit's Midnight Black colorway. If you prefer a more youthful vibe and color on your phone, you may opt for the Emerald Green color option instead.

The WIKO T10 only has a single rear camera which is quite understandable considering its price point. An LED flash accompanies the sensor in the camera module together with the "13MP camera" tag. It does not, however, say it is an AI lens, but we'll find out later on in the review when we discuss the phone's camera.

Display

The smartphone frames a 6.5-inch HD+ (720 x 1600p) display. Since it's an IPS LCD panel, we can expect good viewing angles for the display of the WIKO T10. It also comes with a standard 60Hz screen refresh rate. With these mentioned, it is expected that you'll have longer mileage in terms of battery life.

Some of the display features include 'Dark theme' which also allows you to conserve battery when activated and 'Night Light' which helps filter harmful blue light that could obstruct sleep.

Hardware and Performance

Under the hood, the WIKO T10 is powered by MediaTek Helio A22 (12 nm) to provide decent performance for budget devices in terms of general usage. The SoC operates a quad-core processor with speeds clocked on 2.0 GHz. It is supported by 4GB RAM for multitasking activities and 128GB ROM. I have to say that the large storage capacity differentiates the WIKO T10 from its contemporaries in this segment, as others will only have 64GB or even 32GB; and if that is not enough, storage can be further expanded via microSD for up to 512GB in a hybrid slot.

WIKO T10 Review

In our actual experience with this budget phone, it's good enough to play most games, even Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and shooting games at playable FPS. The chip also produces less heat during heavy usage and consumes less power. Users who also love to binge-watch will enjoy the screen offering together with the capable loudspeaker of the handset.

For synthetic benchmark aficionados, here are the scores we've got with the handset:

  • AnTuTu score: 98044
  • Geekbench score: 142 Single-Core | 506 Multi-Core

It's also worth mentioning that the WIKO T10 does not have fingerprint scanner for biometrics. Face unlock is also not on board. What it does have is only the standard set of screen lock for security purposes (like PIN, Pattern, etc.).

Camera

For optics, the WIKO T10 is equipped with a single 13MP rear camera with autofocus feature, accompanied by an LED flash. For selfies, you will have a 5MP camera that's supported with AI beauty algorithms and screen flash.

The native camera app is very straightforward with three main functions: Video, Photo, and Beauty. You can shoot up to 1080p videos both on rear and front cameras. For the 'Photo' function, you'll have modes like the Panorama, Professional, Night, and Time-lapse (these modes are also available when you record videos). Likewise you can utilize some settings when taking photos like activating AI, geo tagging, etc. For the 'Beauty' function, you can play with stickers and few enhancements like 'Skin', 'Whitening', and 'Rosy'. You can also edit your outputs with basic tools like crop, rotate, and filters.

The camera shutter is slow to take shots. Photos come with decent quality with the right amount of detail when shot in good lighting environment. However, the contrast and vibrancy need more kick. Colors are accurate and the dynamic rage is good enough for a budget phone. In low-light, colors are muted and most details are hidden.

Battery

The WIKO T10 is powered by a large 5000 mAh battery. It comes with smart power saving tech which enables the handset to utilize power consumption efficiently to extend battery life. According to WIKO, a full charge gets you 30 hours of calling, 20 hours of videos or 50 hours of audio. Based on our actual use, the battery could easily last a full day with fair to moderate use.

I like the fact that WIKO T10 includes a USB-C charging cable in the package. The handset has support for 10W charging, and you can expect to have the phone to be fully charged (0 to 100%) in about 3 hours.

Software

WIKO T10 ships with Android 11 Go Edition. This forked version of Android is developed to cater to budget phones with modest hardware providing smoother user experience and better overall performance. This results to faster app launches, app switching, and it also comes with privacy features. Aside from that, the set of Google apps are also in their "light version" compared to their standard counterparts, which in turn consume less memory, storage space, and mobile data.

Conclusion

The WIKO T10 is a pretty decent phone. Despite being in the budget offering, you can do more with its feature set. Its camera is good enough compared to its contemporaries and I love how the phone offers bigger memory and functional design.
