Realme 6i Philippines Unboxing

Realme 6i promises a better gaming experience and overall performance in an affordable price. With the advent of the MediaTek Helio G80 in the country, the handset is giving a good headstart for the Realme 6 series. We are very excited to share to you everything about the Realme 6i. But first, let's start with this unboxing and first impressions of the device.

Realme 6i Unboxing

The Realme 6i packaging is defined by a bright yellow box with gray accents. The phone's the main features are taking the spotlight as printed on the box - 6.5-inch display with waterdrop notch, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage, 48MP quad-camera, 5000 mAh battery and Helio G80 chipset. On paper, this combination of specs makes it look convincing for a sub Php 10K price standpoint (price is not yet revealed as of this writing).

Unboxing the Realme 6i is quite exciting. This is the first time that I get to see a fast-charging power brick in an entry-level smartphone. On that note, the Realme 6i packs an 18W charger, a probable capability due to handset's use of a USB Type C port. Thus, this means that a Type C cable is also included in the box. A soft jelly case is always a welcome accessory since we wouldn't want those scratches on our device. Of course, the usual stuff - pin ejector, manual and other paperworks are also included.

Impressions: Stunning Matte Finish

Realme ups its design philosophy with the Realme 6i. I am a fan of the previously released smartphone aesthetics but I think the company took it to another level with the Realme 6i.

Its display is a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD. There's a Gorilla Glass 3 protection on the front panel underneath the factory-applied screen protector. The backing and the sides are unapologetically plastic. Both comes off with a matte finish. This also gave a good grip to the handset especially when using it with one hand.

Design: Hey USB Type C Port!

Also, our White Milk color variant has a white back panel and a silver frame unlike the Green Tea version which looks like it comes from one piece. All in all, the back panel is an eye-candy, thanks to the ingenious layering and polishing of Realme's design team. It gives an impression of parallel laser beams from the phone's top to bottom.

There's a USB Type C port on the bottom side together with the speaker grill and 3.5-mm audio jack. The power button is on the right side, while the SIM tray and volume rocker is on the left side. The SIM tray also accommodates a dedicated microSD slot on top of the two SIM slots.

There's a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor right across the quad-camera module. This module features the 48MP main sensor, 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro and 2MP mono camera depth sensor. The selfie camera is a 16MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture. It's also worth-noting that the Realme 6i's body is splash resistant. There's no LED notification found in the waterdrop notch area.

At almost 200 grams, the Realme 6i is on the lighter side. This makes it easy to use. The Realme 6i is a very promising device that is set to bring performance in an affordable price. It'll be officially announced on May 13. Stay tuned for our in depth review.
