ASUS ZenFone 5Q Quick Preview Philippines

ASUS has officially unveiled the Zenfone 5, Zenfone 5Z, and Zenfone 5Q intelligent phones in the recently concluded Mobile World Congress 2018, putting all the gazillion of rumors to rest. The ASUS Zenfone 5 and 5z are obvious refinements to what we had from last year; while the Zenfone 5Q is another first from the Zenfone maker. It’s the company’s first smartphone that sports four cameras.

The ASUS ZenFone 5Q: Quick Preview

Design

The ASUS Zenfone 5Q looks like an iteration to last year's Zenfone 4 Selfie line. However, it is worth-noting that ASUS has finally implemented the 18:9 aspect ratio to its selfie-centric line. The Zenfone 5Q comes with a 2.5D front-glass and faux metal body which definitely feels great on the hands. The phone is on the light and thin sides with its 7.8-mm depth and 168-gram weight.

There’s a dual camera set-up on the front – 20MP main selfie camera and another 120-degree wide-angle secondary camera. Likewise, the rear panel houses a 16MP main rear shooter coupled with another 120-degree wide-angle camera. There’s also a fingerprint sensor on the upper center portion of the back panel.

Hardware, Display

The Zenfone 5Q is also known as the Zenfone 5 Lite in other territories. Knowing that we already had a ZF5 Lite model in 2014, the company opted to use the Zenfone 5Q moniker. The handset ticks with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 with up to 2.2GHz octa-core CPU and Adreno 508 GPU. It packs with 4GB of RAM for faster app launching and multitasking activities.

Upfront, the Zenfone 5Q features the 6-inch FHD+ IPS LCD with 1080 x 2160 pixel resolution. It has a 75.95% screen-to-body ratio unlike its more powerful counterparts which have 90%. On our brief time with the handset, the display offers a great viewing angle and color accuracy.

ASUS Zenfone 5Q Availability, Pricing Philippines

The ASUS Zenfone 5Q is powered by 3,300 mAh battery and Android 8.0 Oreo with ZenUI 5.0 on top. There’s no definite time yet as to when the handset will hit the shelves in the Philippines. However, the standard Zenfone 5 is set to become available this April; and based on the company’s history, there’s a high likelihood that the Zenfone 5Q will join the pack in its initial release.

As for the price, I expect that the Zenfone 5Q will be a tough competitor in the mid-range department with more or less Php 15K price standpoint.
