The Korean Giant finally introduced Samsung Z powered by its own Tizen operating system. This move is viewed as an attempt to lessen its reliance from Google’s Android. We know that Samsung may have gained leadership on the mobile market but Google is the “power” behind the vast majority of smartphones. The latter controls the user experience by having Android employed on the devices.
Moreover, Android applications
will be incompatible with Tizen. To date, there are already over one million
Android apps. It looks like Samsung will be hard at work to gather support from app developers who are already earning well with the global prominence
of Android and iOS.
On paper, the first Samsung
Tizen smartphone have lots of admirable features to boast. It’ll have a 4.8-inch
Super AMOLED display and 2.3GHz quad-core processor, presumably a Qualcomm
Snapdragon 800. The phone will have 2GB of RAM and an on-board memory of 16GB with expansion
option via microSD of up to 64GB.
It can also support LTE Cat 4 for fast connectivity. Other specs include 8MP+2MP camera and 2600mAh battery. Samsung also incorporates its marquee features like fingerprint sensor, Ultra Power Saving Mode and download boaster.

The device will be released
on the third quarter of this year in Russia. After
that, it is expected to roll out into other markets as well. Price is still unknown for this product
but we are guessing that it will be lower than competing devices (flagships and mid-ranged)
from Android and iOS.
Manufacturing an exclusive Tizen device is a bold move for the Korean outfit. But this signals Samsung's intent to have both software and hardware under one roof like Apple or Microsoft way of things. Having the highest influence in the Android community, will it convince the majority of its existing user to jump into the Tizen bandwagon?
