Seems like Apple is giving Jailbreakers a great challenge because this time, it took iPhone Dev Team, Chronic Dev Team and @pod2g (iOS hacker) to come up with this newest jailbreak for A5. Introducing the Absinthe A5 is now available for download! So for those who are planning to loosen up some restrictions from Apple, well this is what you’re waiting for. And when we say “some,” we mean a lot of customizations for your iDevice.

Folks get too excited when @pod2g tweets about being “on the works” with the A5 chip that significantly opens the light to this jailbreak. This finally leads to the release of Absinthe A5; an untethered jailbreak (which means that you could hook your device once in your computer) that serves the Apple’s newest processor – the A5. On the other hand, the tethered version is the one that should be hooked to your computer everytime you do a reboot.

First of all you should know that Absinthe A5 is available for Mac, Windows and Linux platforms. Likewise, it only works with iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1 for iPhone 4S; and iOS 5.0.1 for iPad 2. And it’s wise to back up your files before doing the jailbreak.

Download the jailbreak file from here. After which, you have to open up the downloaded file and click on the “jailbreak” button on the prompt. Be aware that it would take 5 to 10 minutes for it to install the Absinthe A5. After the jailbreak is complete, you would see a Cydia icon on your home screen. Congratulations, your jailbreak is complete.
