TECNO CAMON SLIM 5G debuts in the Philippines through “The Living Cover Runway”

TECNO officially introduced the CAMON SLIM 5G in the Philippines through “MAKE IT LIGHTER: The Living Cover Runway,” a fashion-led launch that put modern Filipino women, their stories, ambitions and everyday lives at the center of the event.

Instead of the usual smartphone launch filled with specifications and product demonstrations, TECNO turned the CAMON SLIM 5G debut into something closer to a fashion editorial brought to life. The event explored the idea behind “Make It Lighter” through fashion, technology and the personal stories of 15 Filipino women.

The concept reflects both the smartphone and the women at the heart of the launch. The CAMON SLIM 5G has an ultra-slim body that is easy to carry, while its features are designed to keep up with busy everyday lives.

For Filipino women who move between work, commutes, family, friendships, passions and personal goals, making life lighter does not necessarily mean having fewer things to do. It can also mean finding smarter ways to carry what matters.

Not Models. Living Covers.

The centerpiece of the launch was The Living Cover Runway, which featured 15 women from different backgrounds, professions and stages of life.

The lineup included celebrities and creators, as well as entrepreneurs, working mothers, businesswomen, women in technology, community builders and other Filipinas whose stories go beyond a single title.

The runway followed one simple idea: every woman becomes the cover of her own story.

Rather than simply walking the stage as models, each woman appeared with her name and identity on the LED screen. As she walked down the runway with the CAMON SLIM 5G, a short narration introduced part of her personal journey, including what she does, what she carries in life and what making life “lighter” means to her.

15 Women, 15 Different Definitions of Strength

There was no single definition of the “CAMON woman.”

Solo working mom and advertising professional Ely Halig shared her perspective as a breadwinner and competitive padel player. Her story centers on the idea that motherhood does not require a woman to make herself smaller. For Ely, making life lighter means creating room for her career, her daughter and the parts of herself that remain entirely her own.

Twinkle Dimayuga also shared a different perspective. Her experience as a solo mother eventually led her to help build MAMA — Mothers Advocating through Ministry and Action. Her story gives another meaning to “lighter”: strength does not always mean doing everything alone. Sometimes, it starts with allowing others to become part of the solution.

The runway also featured women whose stories explored reinvention, creativity, identity and growth. The lineup included Aubrey Miles, Carlyn Ocampo, Fuschia Anne Ravena, Max Collins and Megan Young.

Leading the finale was Megan Young, actress, host and Miss World 2013. Her journey through pageantry and entertainment reflected the event’s celebration of women who continue to grow beyond a single title. Her Living Cover moment brought together the confidence, style and sense of possibility at the heart of the launch.

Together, the women turned the runway into more than a traditional celebrity fashion moment. It became a moving portrait of modern Filipina life.

Burgundy Red Becomes a Fashion Language

Burgundy Red, the hero color of the CAMON SLIM 5G, became the visual theme of the evening.

All 15 runway looks used burgundy as a common thread, but each woman had her own interpretation of the color. Instead of identical gowns or a traditional pageant aesthetic, the styling drew inspiration from modern Filipiniana.

The designs used structure, translucent fabrics, fluid draping, pleats and movement to reflect each woman’s character.

Some silhouettes focused on discipline and structure, while others used softer layers to represent transition, vulnerability or freedom. Details inspired by careers, passions, family histories and personal turning points also gave every look its own story.

A Launch Designed Like a Living Magazine

The fashion editorial concept did not stop at the runway. From the moment guests arrived, the event was designed to feel like a journey through the pages of a magazine rather than a conventional trade-show environment.

The experience moved through several spaces, including the Arrival Salon, portrait displays, product experience areas and the main editorial runway. Each zone revealed another layer of the same story.

Even the arrival area followed the fashion direction. Modern Filipiniana elements and a more hospitality-led environment replaced the usual visual clutter associated with smartphone launches.

At the center of it all, however, was still the product.

The TECNO CAMON SLIM 5G is the company’s new ultra-slim imaging flagship for the Philippine market. It combines a 6.39mm ultra-slim body and a 6,000 mAh battery with a 50MP Sony LYTIA™ 700C main camera, Super-Zoom FlashSnap and TECNO Universal Tone imaging.

The idea was not to separate fashion from technology. Instead, TECNO wanted to show how the two increasingly exist in the same conversation. A smartphone is not simply something people use. It is something they hold, carry, photograph with and take with them through almost every part of their day.

A First Glimpse at Angélica Dass and the Stories Beyond the Runway

The launch also offered a first look at another chapter of TECNO’s work with Filipino women through its collaboration with artist and photographer Angélica Dass.

Portraiture became part of the launch experience as part of a broader exploration of women beyond the labels commonly used to define them. In the event concept, the photographed women form part of the emotional spine of the experience. Their individual portraits connect with the stories presented throughout the launch.

The Philippine chapter will focus more closely on working women, particularly working solo mothers and the people around them, through the lens of diskarte - the adaptability, wisdom and resourcefulness that women use to find their own ways forward.

Rather than framing these women only through difficulty or sacrifice, the project asks a different question: Who are they beyond the labels placed on them?

TECNO said more from its collaboration with Angélica Dass will be revealed later in October.

Making Technology Feel Closer to Real Life

At its heart, The Living Cover Runway reflects the audience TECNO wants the CAMON SLIM 5G to speak to. Modern Filipino women do not live in just one role. The same woman can be a professional in the morning, a daughter or mother at home, a creator after work and a friend at night. She can also have ambitions that belong only to herself.

The launch did not attempt to present one ideal version of that woman. Instead, it brought different versions of her onto the same runway.

That is also the idea behind “Make It Lighter.” It is not about pretending that life suddenly becomes simple. It is about creating technology, design and experiences that understand how full life already is and finding thoughtful ways to fit into it.

With the CAMON SLIM 5G, TECNO brought that philosophy beyond the specification sheet and onto the runway. The smartphone became part of a larger story about the style, movement and everyday lives of the women it was designed for.

Because every woman carries her own story. And every woman deserves to be the cover of it.
