Apple introduced the next generation of Apple Intelligence during its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026. This brings a major update to Siri at the center of the announcement as the fruit company unveiled Siri AI, a redesigned assistant that offers more natural conversations, deeper personalization, and expanded integration across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Vision Pro devices.

Siri AI
The updated Siri AI uses Apple's latest foundation models and supports more conversational interactions. Users can ask follow-up questions, switch topics during a conversation, and interact with Siri through voice or text. Apple also introduced a standalone Siri app that keeps conversations synced across supported devices through iCloud.

Siri AI can understand content that appears on the screen and respond based on the context of apps, documents, websites, and messages. The assistant can also help users complete tasks that involve multiple apps without requiring manual navigation between them.
Moreover, Apple expanded Apple Intelligence with new writing, productivity, and automation tools. The company updated Shortcuts to support natural language commands, which allows users to create automations with simpler instructions. Apple also added new AI-powered suggestions and assistance features across its software platforms.
Liquid Glass and Photos App
There's also new customization options for the Liquid Glass interface. A new slider in Settings lets users adjust the appearance of Liquid Glass based on their preference. Users can choose a more transparent look, increase the tint effect, or set the interface anywhere between the two extremes. The feature gives users more control over the visual style of iOS, iPadOS, and other Apple platforms.

The popular Photos app received several AI-focused upgrades. New tools can edit images, remove unwanted objects, extend photo backgrounds, and improve photo organization. Apple also updated Image Playground with additional image-generation capabilities.

New stuff have also been introduced like the Child Accounts and Parental Controls across Apple's platforms. Parents can now manage app access, communication permissions, web browsing, and screen time settings through expanded family safety tools. New protections include parental approval for new contacts and websites, while enhanced content filtering can help prevent children from viewing inappropriate material. Apple said these features will become available with the release of its latest software updates later this year.

The iPhone-maker also announced enhancements for developers, allowing third-party apps to integrate more deeply with Apple Intelligence features. New APIs will enable developers to build AI-powered experiences that can take advantage of Siri's contextual understanding and on-device processing capabilities.
Apple said privacy remains a core part of Apple Intelligence. The company processes many requests directly on supported devices and uses its Private Cloud Compute system for more advanced tasks that require additional computing resources.
The new Apple Intelligence features will arrive across iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS Golden Gate, watchOS 27, and visionOS 27. Apple has already released developer betas, while public beta versions will become available later this year before the wider rollout.
Apple noted that hardware requirements will limit access to some Apple Intelligence features. Several advanced Siri AI capabilities will require newer devices with sufficient processing power and memory to handle on-device AI tasks.
