MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Platform now official: To power next-gen flagship smartphones

MediaTek introduced the Dimensity 9500, its most advanced mobile platform to date, designed to power the next generation of flagship 5G smartphones with breakthroughs in on-device AI, gaming, and energy efficiency.

MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Platform

The Dimensity 9500 adopts a third-generation All Big Core CPU that combines a 4.21GHz ultra core, three premium cores, and four performance cores with four-lane UFS 4.1 storage. This setup delivers up to 29% higher single-core and 16% higher multi-core performance compared to its predecessor, while reducing ultra-core peak power consumption by 55% for longer battery life.

“As AI becomes part of everyday life, consumers want devices that feel smarter, faster, and more personal without sacrificing battery life,” said JC Hsu, corporate senior vice president at MediaTek and general manager of the Wireless Communications Business Unit. “The MediaTek Dimensity 9500 delivers exactly that: Breakthrough on-device AI, top-tier performance and efficiency, and a full suite of premium experiences that our partners can bring to users around the world.”

The platform introduces the industry’s first support for 4-channel UFS 4.1 storage, doubling read and write speeds and improving large AI model loading by 40%. A second-generation Dimensity scheduler enhances responsiveness and sustains efficiency under heavy workloads.

For graphics, the Arm G1-Ultra GPU provides up to 33% higher peak performance and 42% improved power efficiency. The chip supports double frame rate interpolation up to 120FPS and hardware-based raytracing. MediaTek also worked with major studios to optimize for MegaLights in Unreal Engine 5.6 and Nanite in Unreal Engine 5.5, enabling AAA-level rendering and advanced lighting effects.

The Dimensity 9500 integrates the ninth-generation MediaTek NPU 990 with Generative AI Engine 2.0, which doubles compute power and supports BitNet 1-bit large model processing. This architecture cuts power use by up to 25% while improving always-on small model performance by more than 40%. Users gain access to faster large language model output, extended text processing, and 4K ultra-high-resolution image generation.

Imaging is supported by the MediaTek Imagiq 1190, offering RAW-domain pre-processing, 200MP capture, and NPU-assisted focusing. The platform enables 4K 60FPS portrait video with cinematic quality. Connectivity features include MiraVision adaptive display, AI-enhanced Bluetooth calls, Wi-Fi fast transfer, and multi-network intelligence. MediaTek said AI-driven power management delivers 10% lower 5G power use and 20% lower Wi-Fi power consumption, while 5CC carrier aggregation increases bandwidth by 15%.

MediaTek also integrated AI positioning and network selection technologies, providing 20% higher accuracy and 50% lower network latency compared to rivals. The company continues to work with device makers, game studios, and software partners to bring advanced mobile experiences to market.

Smartphones powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 are scheduled to launch in the fourth quarter of 2025.
