Nintendo Switch 2 Launches June 5 with Enhanced Features, Backward Compatibility, and GameShare

Nintendo Switch 2 is now official and will be released on June 5 at a suggested retail price of USD 449.99 (Php 25,735). The system includes the Nintendo Switch 2 console, Joy-Con 2 controllers (L+R), Joy-Con 2 Grip, Joy-Con 2 Straps, Nintendo Switch 2 Dock, Ultra High-Speed HDMI Cable, Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter, and USB-C Charging Cable. A Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle will also be available for $499.99, featuring the system and a download code for Mario Kart World.

Nintendo Switch 2 Launches June 5

The Nintendo Switch 2 introduces a 7.9-inch full HD 1080p LCD screen, a redesigned Joy-Con 2 that magnetically attaches to the console, and faster CPU and GPU performance for improved visuals and load times. The system includes 256GB of internal storage and supports microSD Express cards for faster data access. Other upgrades include enhanced 3D spatial sound, a freely adjustable stand, and an additional USB-C port on top for charging or connecting accessories like the Nintendo Switch 2 camera.

Backward Compatibility and GameShare

The console supports backward compatibility, allowing users to play compatible physical and digital Nintendo Switch games on the new system. Some titles may not be fully supported. Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers and peripherals, including the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, can connect wirelessly to the Nintendo Switch 2.

A new feature called GameShare allows multiple people to play a title together, even if only one player owns the game. Local multiplayer is supported across Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch systems. GameShare can also be used with GameChat for online play, enabling players to voice chat or video chat while gaming.

Dock, 4K Output and GameChat

The Switch 2 Dock allows video output at up to 4K resolution and supports gaming at up to 120 fps, depending on game and TV compatibility.

A new feature called GameChat enables voice and video chat while playing games. Up to 12 players can communicate, with four players able to share their screens. GameChat is free until March 2026, after which a Nintendo Switch Online membership will be required.
