The coastal cleanup at Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park addressed pollution in the 175-hectare protected area, one of Manila Bay’s last remaining mangrove refuges. Home to over 54 bird species, the park plays a crucial role in maintaining biodiversity. Waste accumulation threatens its ecosystem, making conservation efforts essential.

Volunteers from Epson and Haribon collected 133 sacks of waste, totaling 697 kilograms. The collected debris included Styrofoam (42 sacks, 82 kg), glass and metal (5 sacks, 50 kg), PET bottles (41 sacks, 123 kg), rubber materials (19 sacks, 228 kg), cloth waste (6 sacks, 72 kg), and soft plastics (20 sacks, 140 kg). This effort reduced pollutants and emphasized the need for continuous environmental action.

The Haribon Foundation provided technical guidance, cleanup materials, and site management support. As a leading environmental organization in the Philippines, Haribon focuses on biodiversity conservation and sustainable practices. Its collaboration with Epson aligned with efforts to restore habitats and engage communities in ecological initiatives.

Epson integrated this cleanup into its 2025 Human Resources plan as part of its sustainability commitment. The initiative aimed to encourage employee participation in environmental efforts while reinforcing the company’s broader conservation goals. Epson continues to implement sustainability programs, including waste reduction, energy conservation, and eco-friendly technology innovation.
