OPPO is set to launch its newest AI Phones under the OPPO Reno12 Series 5G this July 12. Available in two models: the OPPO Reno12 5G and OPPO Reno12 Pro 5G, this latest addition to the Portrait Expert series promises advanced and intuitive AI technology. This aligns with the company’s goal of making the AI smartphone experience accessible to more Filipinos.
AI Portrait: The Future-Forward Portrait Expert
There’s a bucket-full of AI imaging features included in the OPPO Reno12 Series 5G. A very notable one, the AI Eraser 2.0, now has the capability to instantly erase people in the background with its Remove People function. Both the very capable Smart Lasso and Paint Over functions are still available if you need to be very intricate in selecting the objects to be removed. These were introduced earlier this year with the Reno11 Series 5G.
The OPPO Reno12 Series 5G also comes with AI Studio, a pre-installed app that lets you turn any photo of yourself into a digital avatar or profile picture. This allows users to personalize images with a range of creative filters and styles to choose from.
Camera optimized for AI
Staying true to the Reno Series' reputation for top-notch photography, the OPPO Reno12 5G comes with a 50MP Sony LYT-600 Sensor, featuring All Pixel Omni-Directional PDAF and OIS for its main camera. Meanwhile, the OPPO Reno12 Pro 5G has a 50MP telephoto portrait camera.
The selfie cameras on the OPPO Reno12 5G (32MP) and OPPO Reno12 Pro 5G (50MP) have advanced AI Portrait features. These include autofocus and Portrait Mode, letting you zoom in and out for the best shot. Likewise, the Natural Tone feature intelligently adjusts the exposure to give more realistic lighting and skin tones in your photos.
AI LinkBoost
The OPPO Reno12 Series 5G also employs the AI LinkBoost, a next-generation proprietary communication technology developed by OPPO. It features a 360-degree Surround Antenna solution with nine antennas. This ensures strong connectivity even in tough conditions. Additionally, its BeaconLink technology boosts Bluetooth uplink capabilities by 300%, allowing device-to-device voice calls over Bluetooth for up to 200 meters away, even without an internet connection.
To highlight this feature, OPPO partnered with Smart Communications to test the OPPO Reno12 Series 5G in various scenarios, including areas with weak signals, network switching, crowded places, and recovery tests. The OPPO Reno12 5G and OPPO Reno12 Pro 5G delivered impressive results, outperforming competing brands in all four categories.
