ASUS Vivobook S 15 (S5507) Copilot+ PC Hands-on, First Impressions

ASUS is bringing the Vivobook S15 S5507 to the Philippines. It's their first Copilot+ PC, designed for AI-centric tasks and equipped with powerful internals. Speaking of internals, the laptop debuts the most interesting hardware to date - the Qualcomm X Elite processor. I had the opportunity to spend some time with the device. Here are my impressions.

Design + Display

The ASUS Vivobook S 15 S5507 frames a 15.6-inch 3K 120Hz OLED display. This panel is supported by the company's proprietary Lumina OLED branding with up to 600-nit brightness. There's no shortage of stunning visuals and popping of colors with this laptop.

The screen is also certified by TUV Rheinland for reduced blue light emissions and a flicker-free screen. Additionally, the panel has high dynamic range, making it look crisp and very ready for my binge-watching sessions. Colors are also very accurate, thanks to the 100% DCI-P3 accuracy. On the get-go, the display is something that I would use for my streaming and gaming sessions.

When it comes to the design, the Vivobook S 15 has a lightweight body at 1.42 kg and a slim 14.7 mm depth. The all-metal body makes this laptop premium-looking and minimalist at the same time. It also supports 180-degree hinge, making it easy to share your display in meetings. Additionally, this laptop is ideal for those who frequently commute, travel, and are always on the go.

Connectivity + Hardware

The Vivobook S 15 is very generous when it comes to ports and buttons. In fact, it has a full set of I/O ports, including two USB 4 ports, two USB 3.2 Type A Gen 1 ports, one HDMI 2.1 port, one 3.5-mm audio jack, and one microSD card slot. If you mount multiple monitors at your workstation, this set of ports could definitely support them.

The keyboard has RGB lighting, and you can customize it with Solid Color, Breathing, and Rainbow modes. It also has a Copilot hotkey and an Emoji key. Plus, there's a physical privacy shield for the webcam, so you can cover the lens with a slider and turn off the camera at the same time.

As mentioned earlier, this computing machine is powered by the Snapdragon X Elite processor with a 45-watt TDP. The chip is 21% faster than the Apple M3 chip according to Geekbench 6 multi-core benchmark claims. Plus, it runs 16.5% cooler than laptops with x86 architecture. Its processor includes a 45-TOPS NPU, powerful enough for AI computing.

There's 16GB of LPDDR5X 8448 MHz memory and 1TB PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD storage onboard. Likewise, the laptop has a large 70Wh battery, which is claimed to last 20% longer than previous batteries in this series.

This Vivobook S 15 can last up to 18 hours of non-stop entertainment and productivity. It also supports fast charging tech using the USB-C Easy Charge, which recharges the battery up to 60 percent in just 49 minutes.

AI Features

Apart from the groundbreaking hardware, the ASUS Vivobook S 15 S5507 is loaded with AI capabilities. Of course, there's a reason it is ASUS' first Copilot+ PC. There's bucketful of AI software at your disposal, including StoryCube, a one-stop media hub.
