realme's latest audio device, the realme Buds Q2s, is gunned for a wider audience in the local TWS earbuds market. This feature-packed earbuds is supported by the realme Link app; plus the use of AAC codec and Bluetooth 5.2 make this entry-level TWS interesting.
realme Buds Q2s Review
The device has been launched alongside the popular realme GT Neo 3. And while the accompanying smartphone is hitting the upper range of the mid-tier segment, the Buds Q2s is slated in a very affordable price point. Let's see if the realme Buds Q2s is for you.
Design
The realme Buds Q2s features an oval-shaped case just like what we've accustomed to with previous realme Buds Q devices. The main difference in this new iteration of the TWS device is that the lid is transparent revealing the earbuds when inside the case.
There's a USB-C port for charging on the rear of the case and an LED notification that lets you know the earbuds' status and battery life. There is no function button, but the TWS easily pairs with your partner device once you open the lid.
The case is small and light enough to fit any regular-sized pockets. It's made of plastic; thus, it could easily pick up scratches. I love the case's matte finish which negates fingerprints.
As for the earbuds, they look like the same rounded beads from the previous installation. We have the black model that features matching silicone ear tips.
The earbuds instantly fit into my ears. If any chance that I would want to change the ear tips, the package also includes two pairs in different sizes. The yellow-toned USB-C cable and the documentation inserts complete the list of items found inside its packaging.
Performance and Software
The realme Buds Q2s has a very vibrant sound quality with overwhelming bass. If you love beats and low signature sounds, the realme Buds Q2s won't disappoint. Those who love to listen to EDM and Hip Hop music will also love to have this in their bags.
The TWS employs the 10-mm Bass Boost driver with PEEK and TPU Polymer diaphragm which gives an overall balanced soundstage. Lows and mids register very well, but there are times they are overpowered by the loud bass.
You'll have plenty of modes to use in the companion realme Link app. This includes the Bass Boost+ Mode if you wanted to crank up more bass in your music. Likewise, you can toggle the Volume Enhancer to further increase the volume of your audio device. The realme Buds Q2s also registers voice very well. If your paired device has a Dolby Atmos support, you can take advantage of this nifty feature as well.
Gamers will also be delighted by the 88ms low latency and the easy gaming-mode access. You can activate the latter by just long pressing both earbuds. The Buds Q2s supports Bluetooth 5.2, SBC, and AAC audio codec. The touch controls are also customizable in the realme Link app. You can assign actions like Play/Pause when single tapping or Skip Track when double tapping.
Battery Life
The realme Buds Q2s can outlast most of its contemporaries when it comes to the battery life. Each earbud has a 40 mAh battery which can deliver uninterrupted music up to 7 hours in 50% volume. The case is packed with 400 mAh which promises up to 30 hours of performance. In our real-time test, the Buds Q2s gave me almost 26 hours of juice in one charging - that's a cumulative battery performance of standalone earbuds plus the case.
The device supports fast charging capability in which a 10-minute charge will give your device up to 3 hours of playback. The case also gives intuitive color-coded battery information; the LED notification is red when the battery is low and green when battery is full.
Should You Buy The realme Buds Q2s TWS Earbuds?
With its price of PHP 1490, the realme Buds Q2s gives real value to those looking for an affordable audio device that they can pair with their smartphone or tablet. The Buds Q2s has a balanced audio quality and better connectivity with AAC codec support. It also has good latency for gaming enthusiasts and long-lasting battery life.
On top of that, the realme Link gives an improved usage exclusively for realme device users; however, if you're using any other Android phones, you can still enjoy this feature-rich earbuds.
