Design and Fit

The realme Buds Wireless 2 Neo features a neckband design. The actual neckband comes with a black paintjob, while the wire leading up to the buds is a striking yellow. I always love the combination of black and yellow; this is the same reason that I actually like this Wireless Buds.

The neckband is made up of a rubber-like material with smooth finish, on its ends are the control modules which has a matte finish. This 23.1-gram device has an IPX4 rating which means that it is splash and sweatproof.

In case you're wondering how to decipher the left from the right side of the band, there's a subtle markings on each ends. On the right end, there's the control stem module which houses the volume up and down buttons, multi-function button, LED indicator, and the USB-C port. The left stem module is a home to the realme branding.

The yellow cables are attached to the stem modules and the actual earbuds. These cables come with a fabric-like material which gives off a premium feel to the whole device. The buds are also lightweight, with magnetic ends to facilitate ease of use.

The rubber tips are actually soft; if the default tips won't fit, you can check out other tip sizes in the box. These pair of earbuds has an integrated microphone on their body that boasts of an Environmental Noise Cancellation feature. This jewel filters sounds from your surroundings so you'll register clearly from the perspective of your caller.

The neckband support is quite comfortable, it allows the earbuds to stay on your ears even when you're doing agility-based exercise or even running. The buttons are also very accessible and are easy to manage.

Setup and realme Link App

The Buds Wireless 2 enters pairing mode when the two magnetized buds are separated. You can pair the device with your phone by selecting it on the devices' list in your Bluetooth connectivity settings.

After pairing successfully, you'll be able to manage the device using the realme Link app. You can choose among your desired sound effects like Bass Boost+, Dynamic, and Bright on the get-go. Of course, I'm a sucker for bass so I keep the Bass Boost+ on most of the time.

There are also toggles for the Game Mode and Volume Enhancer. The former enhances the Buds Wireless 2 Neo's performance in terms of improving latency. This will definitely level up your competitive advantage in-game.

Additionally, you can customize you gesture functions in the app. This is what I like about the realme Link app, it offers lots of functions and customizations to all my realme devices in one single place.

Sound Quality and Battery Life

There's a large 11.2-mm sound driver inside the realme Buds Wireless 2 Neo. This is more than enough to give you the heart-thumping bass. If you're "all about the bass," then this one is for you. Moreover, the device also registers well on mids but not so much on the high range. Collectively, the soundstage is balanced and could definitely hold a candle against a number of expensive contenders. On top of that, vocals are clear, as well as voiceovers.

On paper, the device comes with 17-hour playback. My testing does not have a significant deviation from the paper figure. It's also quick to charge; a 10-minute recharge could give you two hours of playback.

The Wrap

The realme Buds Wireless 2 Neo is a great addition to the company's roster of TechLife devices. It caters to sports-minded users and gamers at the same time. If TWS earbuds is not your cup of tea, this is a very convincing alternative. The Buds Wireless 2 Neo is only priced at PHP 1,490.
