The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ were officially launched in the Philippines last March 9 in Grand Hyatt Manila. Equipped with the tech giant’s most advanced smartphone camera yet, the flagship duo is built for the way we communicate and express ourselves through photos, videos, and emojis.
Along with the official launch of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ is the introduction of its brand ambassadors Solenn Heussaff and Georgina Wilson who played hosts at the recent media launch. Renowned photographer BJ Pascual also joins the duo, completing the roster of key ambassadors for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+.
More than 400 media guests, Samsung dealers and partners have experienced firsthand the reimagined camera with product presentations led by Ivan Pua, Product Marketing Head for IT and Mobile, and Lea Cua, Product Marketing Manager for Flagship Smartphones who demonstrated live on stage the new exciting features of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ e.g. the Super Slow-Mo, AR Emoji, and best-in-class low light camera features.
Samsung went above and beyond everyone’s expectations with the Tunnel “Selfinity” Area featuring stunning super slow-motion footages and breathtaking videos of the high-performance smartphone. At the Experiential Zones, guests were able to try out the latest addition to the S Series before it becomes available in the market on March 16, 2018.
The celebration ended on a high note with Ely Buendia performing some of his most notable and new hits on-stage.
The Camera Reimagined
The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ are both equipped with a Super Speed Dual Pixel 12MP rear camera with autofocus (AF) sensor and optical image stabilization (OIS). Meanwhile, the Galaxy S9+ takes it up a notch with an additional Telephoto 12MP rear camera with AF sensor. Moreover, both handsets' rear camera have Dual Aperture lens (F1.5/F2.4).
On the flip side, the flagship duo feature an 8MP AF front camera (F1.7). With these enhancements, the camera mimics the human eye, adjusting to super low or bright lighting conditions with ease.
The Super Slow Mo feature can capture up to 960 frames per second which is four times slower than the standard slow-mo settings. This records everything in detail and makes everyday moments epic. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ also offer automatic Motion Detection, enabling video recording once movement is detected in the frame. Users can customize their videos with a wide selection of background music, and they can also create looping GIF files to share with their friends.
The smartphones also allow you to express yourself in the best way possible with Augmented Reality (AR) Emoji. It can analyze your photo and map out over 100 facial features to create your very own mini 3D model. It imitates a wide variety of expressions which you can send as stickers or GIFs.
You also get to learn more about your surroundings with Bixby, Samsung’s Artificial Intelligence. Having been integrated into the camera, it can provide useful information about your current surroundings via real-time object detection and recognition. Bixby can also translate foreign languages and currency via Live Translation.
Entertainment Reimagined
Taking cues from the Galaxy S8 and S8+’s almost bezel-free Super AMOLED Infinity Display, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ sport the trademark curved Quad HD screen -- 5.8 inches for S9 and 6.2 inches for S9+ -- with added adaptive contrast enhancement. Direct sunlight will not hinder the screen from producing stunning displays.
Complementing the Infinity Display are stereo speakers tuned by world renowned brand AKG. The phones also support Dolby Atmos, giving a 360-degree sound effect. Combined, these features provide great cinematic entertainment experiences on-the-go.
