We haven’t get passed the first quarter of year yet but
talks about the upcoming iPhone is reverberating everytime we get closer to the
big event. Of course, we all know that 2017 is the 10th anniversary
of the iPhone and everyone is expecting “BIG” in all aspects of the device that
changed the way we use our phones.
Here's a concept photo of iPhone 8
Let’s start talking about iPhone 8 - some calls it iPhone 7s
or iPhone X (referring “X” to be a roman numeral of 10). Either way it doesn’t
matter, for sure Apple fanboys and tech media will welcome the new moniker without a word.
So what do we have in our rumor list? Let's find out.
Display
First, I need to call it iPhone 8 for my convenience. The
2017 iPhone will have a bucket-full of upgrade. The OLED display panel is a
major change for this year’s smartphone. Likewise, the iPhone 8 will test the
waters of edge-to-edge screen with an intriguing set-up for the home button.
Rumors has it that there will be three screen sizes for you
to choose from – a 4.7-inch iPhone, a 5.5-inch iPhone Plus and a 5.8-inch
iPhone 8. We could also expect a change in the design - it might have a
curved-glass back and curved screen similar to the Galaxy Note7.
Camera and Buttons
Due to its edge-to-edge screen, the next iteration of the
iPhone might have 3D-sensing technology. This will replace the physical buttons
on the side of the phone into a touch-sensitive inlays.
In terms of the camera, the smartphone will still have a single-lens
variant for the standard iPhone. But of course, the bigger variants will boast
dual camera set-up with a probable Augmented Reality feature. The 12MP primary
camera and the 7MP rear camera might still be living up the standards of iPhone
photography with the upcoming models.
Hardware, Battery and OS
Let’s go to the meat of this conversation, Apple might be
debuting a wireless charging technology with the iPhone 8. And it will not just settle
for the ordinary wireless charging tech, reports suggest that the module will
support up to 15ft of wireless charging.
Likewise, we also expect the Apple A11 or the A11 Fusion
chip to power the handsets; this will include 3GB or 4GB of RAM. Still, it might feature a quad-core
CPU and a very fast graphic processor. Better waterproofing capability will also be implemented in the new iPhone.
Other Features, Price and Release
To complement the existing ones, Apple will include Iris
scanning and Smart Connector features. If you are looking forward to buy this
year’s iPhone, you should start saving as early as now. The next
iPhone could cost over USD 1000, in the Philippines that’s roughly Php 50,000
basing on the current exchange rate.
Apple will definitely have a dedicated iPhone event this September which would push immediate availability to selected countries in a matter of days. In the Philippines, based on history, expect the iPhone 8 to be released between third week of October to second week of November. Did I miss any rumour? Let me know, try to hit us with your
