We got the chance to see the Cherry Mobile Touch XL 2 in the wild. The imposing screen real state and the in-package VR headset make us want to check this puppy out. For the uninitiated, this second iteration of Touch XL is currently priced at Php 3,499; and we could definitely say, considering its feature set, that it should cost twice than its SRP.
The
Cherry Mobile Touch XL 2 is huge but it's not that heavy. Its front panel is
defined by the 6-inch HD display which sums up to 245 pixels per inch. Flipping
the handset, you'll see the brushed metal back panel which gives the handset a
premium look.
All
the way to the right side, you'll see the no-nonsense positioning of the power
button and the volume rocker. The top houses the microUSB for charging alongside the
3.5-millimeter headphone jack; while the speaker grills and the tiny microphone slit
are situated at the bottom lateral side.
The
Cherry Mobile Touch XL 2 is smooth. In fact, playing with simple taps registers
it as a snappy handset. For sure, the 1.3 GHz quad-core CPU plays a vital role
in its performance on top of the 1GB of RAM. And did I mention that it boots
with Android 6.0 Marshmallow? Well now you know that it comes with the latest
version of Android.
Capping
the rest of the specs are the 8GB of expandable native storage, 8MP-5MP camera
combination and 3G connectivity.
Plus,
Cherry Mobile packages a VR headset which is obviously a welcome feature
to those who are keeping up with an immersive mobile experience. The headset is
very similar to Google Cardboard in terms of construction. However, Cherry VR
headset is more "boxy" compared to the Cardboard.
The price is just Php 3,499 and you'll get a capable phablet with a VR Headset. You can never go wrong with the Cherry Mobile Touch XL 2.
