Sony Xperia Tablet Z becomes official: 10.1-inch screen, 1.5 GHz Quad-Cpre, 8MP Camera in 6.9mm thin

Sony jumped off the ship of the folded tablet design of Tablet S and introduce a newer slash thinner slate in the form of Xperia Tablet Z. This is designed to accompany the stunning performance and looks of its latest flagship phone, the Xperia Z.

Reports says that this tab is even thinner than the iPad mini in its 6.9-mm dimension with and 10.1-inch 1,920 x 1200 pixel screen. However, unlike any other tablet makers, Sony geered this slate with a capable 8.1MP Exmor R camera with a backside-illuminated sensor that could capture quality stills in low-light conditions. If you think that taking pictures in a tab seems to be jaded, you're not in the same frequency as Sony.

Under its hood, this tablet will give a shade to the popular Nexus 10. It has a 1.5 GHz quad-core APQ8064 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB storage and an expansion slot. Apart from the basics, Sony boasts the "S-Force Front Surround Sound" capability of this tablet.

Like any other Xperia phones, Sony tweaked this slate to be waterproof and dustproof which gives us a hint that the Japanese giant is serious about its tablet line. The 6000 mAh battery, however, underwhelms for a 10-incher monster.

Sony Xperia Tablet Z is set to go to Japan and details for pricing and international release is a bit scarce at the moment.
