2011 Video Music Awards will give tribute to “Queen of Pop”, Britney Spears, August 28.

In the recently leaked possible setlist, MTV is bringing up artists like Katy Perry, Ninki Minaj and Selena Gomez to pay tribute to Spears. Britney is expected by fans to do a performance on the said event. But the no confirmation or denial had come from the Spears’ camp yet.

Performing on the said setlist are artists like (in no particular order) Adelle, Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Lady Gaga, Lil’ Wayne, Pitbull, Tony Bennett, Cee-Lo Green and Young the Giant.

Britney Spears had been an icon of VMA since her appearance in the limelight. This is the timeline of Britney Spears appearances on the said awards show:

1999- She nailed her “Baby One More Time” classic in a classroom inspired number together with Nsync.

2000- Surprised everyone when she rocked her skin-toned outfit with her medley of “Satisfaction (I Can’t Get Enough)” and “Oops I Did It Again”.

2001- The “Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman” singer, displayed her transition from a bubble-gum pop superstar into a ravishing sex symbol with her snake-clad number of “I’m A Slave 4 U”.

2003- This performance “Like a Virgin/ Hollywood” became the ultimate VMA shocker in history when she performed with her ex-archrival, Christina Aguillera, and lifetime idol, Madonna; sealing the show with a liplock with the latter.

2007- Straight from the quicksand of her dramatic meltdown, she made her first public appearance through a “Gimme More” VMA 2007 opener.

2008- After a year of doing a performance of that almost destroys her career, she rises up and rake-in the major awards of the show including the Video of the Year.

At the age of 29, she is one of the youngest to receive the honor of a VMA Lifetime Achievement Award. An award that honors music icons of the past that keeps their career steadfast through the years.
