Sony Xperia XA2, XA2 Ultra released: Selfie-centric Mid-range Smartphones

Sony Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra are now official. The company unveiled the handsets in the Consumer Electronics Show 2018  placing these as direct successor to the Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra. From the looks of it, these handsets are specifically tailored in the budding selfie market.

The Sony Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra 

Both handsets are comes with anodized Aluminum sides and diamond-cut finish. The Sony Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra do not have 18:9 aspect ratio as seen in its major competitors in the market. The Xperia XA2 comes with a 5.2-inch full HD panels with, of course, 1920 x 1080 pixels while the Xperia XA2 Ultra touts a ginormous 6-inch full HD display.

Internals

Both are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC; and boot with Android 8.0 Oreo. There’s also a difference in RAM. The smaller model only comes with 3GB in contast to the 4GB of the XA2 Ultra.

Camera: Sony Xperia XA2 vs XA2 Ultra

Talking about camera, the Xperia XA2 settles with an 8MP ¼-inch Exmor R image sensor with 120-degree f/2.4 wide-angle lens. On the other hand, the Xperia XA2 Ultra has a dual front camera set-up. It’s a combination of OIS-enabled 16MP 1/2.6-inch Exmor RS sensor with 88-degree f/2.0 wide angle lens. The other sensor is an 8MP Exmor R with 120-degree f/2.4 wide angle lens.

At the back, both handsets sport a 23MP Exmor RS sensor that is 1/2.3-inch in size and is equipped with 84-degree f/2.4 lens. This sensor comes with hybrid autofocus and supports 4K video recording.

Connectivity

Both handsets feature Bluetooth 5.0 and USB Type C port. The Sony Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra start at 32GB; and packs 3300 mAh and 3580 mAh battery, respectively.
