Meizu M5 is now official. This year we've been expecting the Chinese outfit to release M4, but they opted to take the M5 moniker for their latest value-for-money release.

The Meizu M5

The smartphone is primarily defined by its fast fingerprint reader dubbed as the mTouch 2.1. The company claims that it can unlock the Meizu M5 in just 0.2 seconds. Likewise, the handset is also treated with a 2.5D curved-glass screen which frames the 5.2-inch HD display with 282 ppi.

In terms of hardware, the Meizu M5 is powered by MediaTek MT6750 which technically features a 1.5GHz octa-core CPU and Mali 860 GPU. There's also 2GB of RAM to make app launching and multitasking activities run smoothly. The 2GB version is paired with 16GB internal memory. Those who wanted beefier specs could get the 3GB RAM/32GB model.

The rear-facing camera features a 13-megapixel sensor with phase detection autofocus and dual-LED flash. On the flip side, you'll see a 5-megapixel camera for you social media selfies. In China, the 2GB RAM version comes with 699 CNY which is roughly Php 5000 considering the current exchange rates; while the 3GB RAM costs 899 CNY (Php 6400).

Meizu M5 availability in the Philippines

There's a resilient rumor in the local blogosphere that Meizu would officially enter the Philippine market. Thus, this will make Meizu M5 and other Meizu handsets easier to buy than before.
