HTC J Butterfly released in Japanese market, sports 1080p display at 440ppi and Android Jelly Bean

Ever heard of a phone with 1080p display? Well, HTC has just treated Japanese fans with the HTC J Butterfly! This comes at par with the rumored 5-inch HTC “phablet” we have reported a while ago.

The screen will also be treated with 1920 x 1080 resolution inside a SUPER LCD3 display - which will give an astonishing 440ppi. The HTC J Butterfly looks like a bigger version of HTC One X and weighs 140g.

For specs enthusiasts, this device runs in quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 that is clocked in 1.5GHz. It also boasts 2GB of RAM with a 16GB flash memory that is expandable to through microSD card. Just like the Galaxy S III Mini, it’ll come with the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.

The rear part includes the 8MP camera that has 1080p video recording while the front panel includes the 2MP shooter. Connectivity-wise, the HTC J Butterfly supports NFC and LTE with WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities.

This not-a-phone-not-yet-a-tablet device is certified with IPX5 which means that it is dustproof and waterproof. However, the battery underwhelms with just 2020mAh.

Unfortunately, the device only ships to Japan this December in Red, Black and White colors.
