Instagram on Android hits over a million downloads

Instagram, one of the hottest photo-sharing app in iOS, hits Android devices by storm. This social-network integrated app has reached a million of downloads in just less than a week.

For those who are living in a rock, Instagram is a photo-sharing app with built-in camera filters and can be integrated with your favorite social networking site including Instagram’s own. Like Twitter, it uses hashtags (#) in finding picture categories with pictures suited for mobile-phone photography having an aspect ratio of 4:3.

Android version of Instagram is basically similar to its iOS brother with the same Home, Popular, Shoot, News and Profile sections. However, Instagram is only available for Android Camera Phones starting from Android 2.2 (Froyo) version.

You can download instagram on Google Play with this breakdown of features:
  • 100% free custom designed filters and borders
  • Lux works its magic by making your photos more vibrant and brings out details in your photos   you couldn’t see before
  • Instant sharing to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Foursquare (Flickr coming very soon)
  • Interact with friends through giving & receiving likes and comments
  • Works with Android versions 2.2 and above that support OpenGL ES 2
  • Full front & back camera support
