iPhone 4 "self-combusts" in a flight to Australia

A rogue iPhone 4 has caused some panic in a flight to Sydney yesterday when it produced a significant amount of smoke accompanied with a red spark in an Australian Airline Regional Express. Incident happened when the plane was about to land.

Nothing has been confirmed yet to the cause of the incident but judging on the hardware of the phone, it may have been caused by a battery defect. Aside from the panic that this has caused to a minimal number of passengers, no one was reported harmed during the incident.

The angle of phone having its “self-combustion” mode while on-board a flight is yet to be determined. As of the moment, the device is in the custody of Australian Transport Safety Bureau.
